The building opens!

After many years, the Geology Department has some brand new space! The new building, referred to as "Rankin Replacement" throughout the design and construction process, has been christened Rankin Science South, or RSS. The old building ("New Rankin" for us old-timers) is now Rankin Science West (RSW), and the Biology building is Rankin Science North (RSN). Got that? There will be a quiz...

Geology occupies nearly all of the first floor and most of the basement of RSS, along with our space on the 1st floor of RSW. The first floor of RSS is level with the current 2nd floor of RSW, the basement of RSS is level with the 1st floor of RSW, and so on. After the renovations of RSW are completed in 2006, the floor and room numbers will match across the buildings.

Most faculty offices and upper level labs have been moved to RSS, along with the museum and the collection storage. The map below shows where class and lab rooms are.
