Dr. Marshall is a geophysicist who works on problems in structural geology and neotectonics. Dr. Marshall's dissertation modeled the mechanics of faults in the greater Los Angeles area. He has also studied similar processes in the Ventura Basin, in southeastern Nevada and on Europa. He is an accomplished mathematical modeler of geologic processes and builds his own computers. Dr. Marshall joined the faculty of Appalachian State University in August, 2008.
