Dr. Johnson has been a part of the Appalachian Geology Department since 1994. Prior to this, he taught at Radford University in Radford,
Virginia, and was a Post-doctoral fellow at the Department of Energy's Pittsburgh Energy Technology Center (now the National Energy
Technology Laboratory (NETL)). Dr. Johnson's particular interests are in mineralogy, crystallography and powder X-ray diffraction, but he
also branches out into economic geology and geochemistry. In addition, he serves as the departmental computer consultant and Webmaster.
